Before I wrote my family memoir, Escape to America, I never fully understood the depths of my parents’ love for their children. Now, I do.
No hardship was too hard to endure.
No risk was too scary to take.
My parents lived a hard and fearless life for the love of their children.
Too often, as adult children, we gripe (and perhaps rightly so at times) at our parents’ failings. But we should also be mindful to treasure up their successes before it’s too late.
I know now what I didn’t before my parents passed away. I hope one day my children will read this memoir and understand the depths of my parents’ love for me.
To my parents - Thank You!
